FAISALABAD: Director General Punjab Emergency Services (Rescue 1122) Dr Rizwan Naseer has said Rescue 1122 teams have so far rescued more than 37,000 people from flood hit areas of the province including Jhang, Chiniot, Athara Hazari etc.

Talking to the media at Rescue 1122 Centre, GTS Chowk Faisalabad, after visiting flood-hit areas of Jhang, Dr Rizwan said that leave of rescue staff had already been cancelled. He said 7,392 rescuers were working in flooded areas with 191 boats.

He said that Rescue 1122 was also striving to educate people to take preventive measures to avert untoward incidents. They invest billions of rupees in the construction of grand buildings, plazas and markets etc. but they do not bother to install fire safety gadgets in the buildings, which is not only violation of law but also dangerous, he added.
