Flood hits over 160 villages of Sargodha

SARGODHA: Hundreds villages of Shahpur and Kotmomin Tehsils of Sargodha were affected by the torrential rains as well as flood water from Chenab and Jhelum rivers last night.

Assistant controller Flood Control Cell Shafqat Mehmood told journalists on Monday that the water level was over 8,00,000 cusecs water in River Chenab last night and the flood water hit almost 60-70 villages of Tehsil Kotmomin, Takhat Hazara, Midh Ranjha and Sial Morr.

A flow of 2,50,000 cusecs water in River Jhelum caused inundation in 80-90 villages of Tehsil Shahpur.

The troops of Pakistan Army and district administration shifted the flood hit people and livestock to the safe place and provided them food, medicines, tents and other necessities of life whereas no causality has been reported so far.
