Politics of agitation can't harm elected Govt: Barjees

27 Aug, 2014

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister Barjees Tahir has said that every party has legal and constitutional right to register protest but agitation should not be directed at removing democratically elected government through illegal means.

Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said PTI with 34 members cannot make hostage other 308 members of the National Assembly.

The minister said eleven out of twelve parties in the Parliament have categorically told Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif not to resign under pressure of protests.

He said there is no provision in the 1973 Constitution about resignation of the Prime Minister and only no-confidence motion in the parliament can be moved against him.

Barjees Tahir said the economy of the country is badly affected by the on- going political instability and the protestors should wind up their sit-ins in the interest of the country.
