Israel jobless rate slips to 6.2pc in July

JERUSALEM: Israel's unemployment rate fell to 6.2 percent in July from 6.5 percent in June as overall labour force participation declined, the Central Bureau of Statistics said on Monday.

The number of employed decreased 0.3 percent to 3.549 million, with 60.3 percent of those aged 15 and over having jobs, down from 60.5 percent in June.

The participation rate in the labour force of those 15 and older dropped to 64.2 percent in July from 64.7 percent in June.

Part-time employment dipped 4.6 percent last month while full-time jobs rose 1.0 percent.

Israel's economy is forecast to grow 2.9 percent in 2014.

In the second quarter, Israel's jobless rate rose to 6.0 percent from 5.8 percent in the first quarter.
