BDS defuses 10kg bomb in Chamkani

PESHAWAR: A bid of terrorism was foiled in Chamkani here Wednesday when the Bomb Disposal Squad defused a home-made explosive device.

Assistant Inspector General of Police and BDS in-charge Shafqat Malik said the bomb, which was fixed in a pressure cooker and weighed 10 kilograms, was placed in the fields in jurisdiction of Chamkani police station. Area people spotted the suspected object and informed police and BDU who took prompt action and defused the bomb, he added.

The city has seen frequent attacks by militants in the past few years, with targets ranging from civilians to law enforcers however a significant decline in such incidents was witnessed after security forces carried out operations in surrounding FR areas.
