According to the press statement, Karachi’s demand has hit a mesmerizing 3,000 MW which is a record high, and in order to cater the growing needs of the commercial and residential consumers especially during the holy month of Ramadan, the industrial zones face load-shed only during the peak Sehr & Iftar time.
Giving details spokesman KE said, “We for the past 5 years have kept all the 5 industrial zones exempted from load-shed, and now when KE needs its full capacity to cater the residential and commercial consumers during the peak Sehr & Iftar time, the industrial consumers should cooperate”.
The spokesman added that it is just during the peak Sehr and Iftar time when the industrial zones face load-shed and that is only because KE prioritizes its residential consumers during such hours.
Karachi is the only city where the industries have been kept exempted from load-shedding, and since power demand during peak hours touches almost 3,000 MW, the industrial consumers should bear it, as Ramadan is nearing its end, the press statement added.
