Fresh notes of Rs.87bn issued to banks for public distribution: SBP

KARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued fresh notes worth Rs.87 billion to commercial banks for distribution to the general public and their clients upto July 22.

SBP has been issuing fresh currency notes to facilitate general public during the month of Ramadan through counters of field offices of SBP BSC and it would continue till the last working day of Ramadan, said a press release issued here on Wednesday.

Under the arrangements, each member of the public will be issued upto three packets of Rs.10 notes and one packet each of Rs.20, Rs.50 and Rs.100 of fresh notes against exchange value subject to production of their original CNIC / smart card only at the counter.

Meanwhile, per person quota from 150 designated branches of commercial banks has also been increased to 2 packets each of Rs 10 and Rs 20 and one packet each of Rs 50 and Rs 100.
