SBP issuance of fresh notes to general public

ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has decided to further facilitate issuance of fresh currency notes to general public during ongoing month of Ramazan.

For the purpose the field offices of SBP BSC shall also start issuing fresh notes to the general public from its counters from Thursday July 24, 2014 (Thursday) till the last working day of Ramazan, says a statement issued by the Central Bank on Wednesday.

Under the arrangements, each member of the public will be issued upto three packets of Rs. 10/- and one packet each of Rs. 20, Rs.50 and Rs. 100 of fresh notes against exchange value subject to production of their original CNIC/ Smart card only at the counter.

Meanwhile, per person quota from 150 designated branches of commercial banks has also been increased to 2 packets each of Rs.10 & Rs.20 and 1 packet each of Rs.50 and Rs.100.

It may be added that upto July 22, 2014, an amount of Rs. 87.0 Billion has been issued to commercial banks for distribution to the general public and their clients.
