HAMBURG: Pakistani importers have purchased about 35,000 tonnes of sunflower seed to be sourced from the Black Sea region, excluding Bulgaria, European traders said on Wednesday.

It was purchased at about $430 a tonne c&f with 44 percent oil content for October shipment, traders said.

Bulgaria has suffered heavy rain this summer, which may have damaged some crops, analysts say. Traders said they believed the sunflower seed bought by Pakistan would be sourced in Romania.

Pakistani importers previously this year purchased 37,957 tonnes of sunflower seed, which has now arrived in the country, traders said.

Pakistan has also purchased large volumes of rapeseed/canola this year.
