Police finalizes security arrangements for Youm-e-Ali

KARACHI: Sindh Police finalized security plan for processions and gatherings in connection with Martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali with deployment of over 16,500 personnel of different forces and police.

It was informed at a meeting, presided over by Inspector General of Police Sindh, Ghulam Hyder Jamali, held here on Thursday to review security plan for Youm-e-Ali.

Police commandoes would be deployed at Nishtar Park, Tibbat Center, Khara Dar, Empress Market, Bolton Market and Shah Khurasan alongwith deployment of Rapid Response Force, Quick Response Force, Specialized units and Sindh Reserve Police while 60 vehicles equipped with latest cameras are being handed over to three police zones of the metropolis.

AIGP Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo told that, CID and Special branch has been directed for enhanced intelligence, information sharing and effective follow-up to ensure security of processions, special prayers and religious gatherings.

Availability of bomb disposal squad, fire tenders and ambulances, roof top deployment and watch towers on routes of procession and extensive patrolling would be other measures envisaged in this regard, he said.

Earlier, acting IGP visited Nishtar park to review security arrangements. He met Ulema, Zakireen and organizers of mourning processions and Nishtar park administration and told them that this year more then 16500 police officers and jawans would perform duties on Youm-e-Ali.
