29,853 IDPs families receive cash assistance

ISLAMABAD: FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) Director Farman Khilji on Tuesday said that 29,853 IDPs families have received the cash assistance.

Talking to a private news channel, he said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has disbursed 29.9 million rupees among 3741 IDPs families, each family receiving 8000 rupees.

The Federal Government has so far disbursed more than 358 million rupees among IDPs of North Waziristan as cash assistance, he added.

He said Sarhad Rural Support Programme has also distributed non-food items among twenty thousand IDPs in Bannu. It has also donated twenty tents for the IDPs.

To a question, he said National Disaster Management Authority has so far distributed 346.152 million rupees among the Internally Displaced Persons of North Waziristan Agency.

He said mobile SIMs have also been distributed among forty two thousand IDPs to receive financial assistance.

Over one hundred thousand food packets have been distributed among them and medical treatment has also been provided to three hundred ninety five IDPs.

The NDMA has also handed over two thousand additional tents to FATA Disaster Management Authority for distribution among IDPs, Director FDMA said.

The UNHCR has also distributed over thirty two thousand kits of non food items among Internally Displaced Persons, he added.
