Governor Sindh directs to take extra security measures in holy month

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr. Ishrat-Ul-Ebad Khan has directed to take extra security steps in light of current situation in Ramadan.

According to a statement issued here on Saturday the Governor while presiding over a meeting regarding law and order in the province has directed to beef up security by making all out efforts in the province especially in the mega city.

DG Rangers Sindh Major Gen. Rizwan Akhtar, IG Sindh Iqbal Mahmood, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui and AIG Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo attended the meeting.

Governor Ishrat Ul Ebad said that continuous patrolling of Police and Rangers be enhanced in surroundings of Mosques and designated open places for Namaz-e-Taraweeh.

He also directed Commissioner Karachi to remain in touch with Ulema for forming a team of volunteers to ensure security during prayer timings.

He said that better security arrangements must be made in markets and shopping centres in coordination with owners of shopping centres and markets unions.

He also appealed to help Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of North Waziristan by providing food and other items at camps set up by Pakistan Army at various places.

The Governor also reviewed arrangements on Ramadan in another meeting which was attended by Commissioner Karachi, Administrator and MD Water Board, representatives of KE and deputy commissioners and administrators of all five districts.

On the occasion, Governor Ebad directed to control price of essential items and to ensure supply of water and electricity in Seher and Iftar timings.

He also asked them to make arrangements regarding cleanliness.
