12 policemen rewarded for arresting sectarian killers

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police Sindh Iqbal Mehmood gave cash reward and acknowledgement certificates to a police team of district East over the arrest of two suspected sectarian killers.

The police team on a tip off had arrested two accused of sectarian killings Abdul Rehman alias Jhano and Rizwan Ahmed alias Jimmi in the limits of Tipu Sultan Police Station. The accused were wanted in 17 murder cases in Gulbahar, Rizvia and Liaquatabad areas, according to a handout issued here on Thursday.

The IGP Sindh gave Rs. 500,000 cash to SSP East Pir Muhammad Shah and certificates and Rs. 100,000 each to 11 members of the police team at a simple ceremony at the Central Police Office.

Speaking on the occasion, the IGP Sindh said that police officers and jawans who show good performance will be rewarded, while those found negligent in discharge of their official would be taken up under the rules.

He directed the police officials to remain alert while discharging their official duties and take all measures for success of the ongoing targeted action against criminals and terrorists.

Those rewarded were SSP Pir Muhammad Shah, DSP Chan Zaib, Inspector Rehman, SIs Zulfiqar Haider, Khalid Nadeem Baig, Maqsood Raza and Bakhtawar, ASIs Faisal Jafferi and Mehfooz, Constables Sardar, Asadullah and Aziz.
