LHC takes notice of setting woman on fire

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Complaint Cell Thursday took notice of a press report on administrative side that a man allegedly set his ex-wife ablaze after dousing her with petrol in Nawan Lahore.

The cell has directed the district and sessions judge Toba Tek Singh to look into the matter and submit a detailed report within a week.

According to details, victim Naila Bibi had got divorce through court from Touqeer Husain of Arifwala. In retaliation, he along with Babar, Sadia Bibi and Rani Bibi arrived at Naila's parents house in Chak 338-JB and set her on fire.

Naila who suffered serious burns was admitted to Nawan Lahore rural health centre.

Police registered a case against the culprits and a police party had been dispatched to Arifwala to arrest them.
