Govt to provide all facilities to IDPs of N Waziristan: Abdul Qadir Baloch

ISLAMABAD: Minister for States and Frontier Region (Safron) Abdul Qadir Baloch Tuesday said that people of North Waziristan have made great sacrifices and it is government's duty to provide all the necessary facilities to Internally Displace Persons (IDPs).

While chairing a high level meeting about the future actions for the facilitation of IDPs which was attended by Chairman National Disaster and Management Authority (NDMA), Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and representatives of various ministries and departments.

The meeting was informed that so far 61,000 IDPs have migrated to the settled areas and this number is expected to increase in the coming five to ten days.

The meeting decided to coordinate relief activities among Pakistan Army, NDMA and PDMA while Ministry of Safron will act as coordinator to all the relief operation.

The meeting has tasked NADRA for registration and verification of IDPs as NADRA has established four registration centers at Bannu, Tank, Dera Ismail Khan and Laki Marwat.

The IDPs will be registered through biometric system to ensure transparency.

The government will provide all the basic necessities to the registered IDPs at camps including electricity, water and medical facilities.

The Minister has directed to immediately release funds for relief activities and cash assistance will be given to displaced people.
