11 Jun, 2014

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the Interior Ministry and the National Accountability Bureau on a plea of former Prime Minister (PM) Raja Pervez Ashraf, seeking removal of his name from Exit Control List (ECL).

A two-member bench comprising Justice Noor-ul-Haq N Qureshi and Justice Shoukat Aziz Siddiqui resumed hearing of former Prime Minister's plea.

During the course of hearing, Farooq H Naik counsel for petitioner apprised the bench that Raja Pervez Ashraf had remained former PM and federal minister of water and power.

He alleged that NAB authorities have placed his name in ECL illegally in December, 2013.

He argued that his client wanted to visit Saudi Arab along with his family members to perform Umrah.

Naek prayed the court to direct NAB and Interior ministry to remove his client name from ECL and allow him to perform Umrah.

Further hearing of the case was adjourned till next week.
