Two passengers including a woman killed in train accident near Bandhi

NAWABSHAH: Two passengers including a woman were killed and 20 others were injured when engine and four bogies of Karachi bound Karakoram expressed derailed near Bandhi station some 30 kilometers from here in early hours of Wednesday.

The Karakoram express was coming from Faisalabad when it met an accident near Bandhi station. People of Bandhi town immediately rushed to accident site and started rescue work.

This took half an hour to safely rescue all the passengers of four derailed bogies. All the injured passengers were shifted to Bandhi and Daur hospitals while emergency was declared at Peoples University Hospital Nawabshah to deal with seriously injured passengers.

Soon after the incident, up and down tracks were blocked and trains moving on tracks were stopped at different stations.

Meanwhile the passengers of Karakoram express were boarded on up Sukkur express for onward journey to Karachi after vacating the train from Sukkur bound passengers.

Divisional Superintendent Pakistan Railways Sukkur arrived at the derailment site to supervise the rescue and maintenance work.
