ISLAMABAD: The Prevention of Blindness (POB) Trust has organized 394 free eye camps in which 1,000,502 patients have been examined and 100,621 surgeries performed in the country and abroad, since its inception.

The trust was established in 2007 with the sole mission of preventing blindness and preserving sight.

The POB Trust, a project of Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA), is also striving towards human resource mobilization, training workshops and advocacy with all stakeholders, PIMA spokesman Abdul Wadood told APP here on Saturday.

He said the trust was playing a pivotal role in holding free eye camps at national and international levels to render diagnostic and surgical services in far flung areas.

The trust endeavours to develop strategies for prevention and control of blindness and visual impairment, he added.

The prime objective of the POB trust is to promote and sustain a global campaign against all forms of avoidable blindness, he said.
