NA body discusses affairs of CDA, NEPRA

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly's Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat on Wednesday discussed affairs of Capital Development Authority (CDA), National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) and Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).

The CDA Chairman apprised the committee, which met here with Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan in the chair, about the demography of Islamabad, which included rural and urban areas.

He said estimated population of Islamabad in year 2013 was approximately 1.37 million, whereas the combined population of Rawalpindi and Islamabad was over 2.78 million.

The CDA Chairman highlighted the main functions of authority, its strength, budget for 2012-13 and 2013-14, and land acquired for new sectors.

Responding to the question of a committee's member regarding illegal occupants of sectors G-12 and F-12, and removing of Katchi Abadies (slum areas) from Sector I-11, the CDA Chairman said those sectors had been occupied illegally and the authority intended to vacate their occupied area in a smooth manner.

Members of National Assembly Malik Ibrar Ahmed, Sardar Muhammad Irfan Dogar, Parveen Masood Bhatti, Nighat Parveen Mir, Shahnaz Saleem, Seema Mohiuddin Jameeli, Marriam Aurangzeb, Roshan Din Junejo, Sajid Nawaz, Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, Syed Ali Raza Abidi and Muhammad Rehman Hashmi attended the meeting.
