Govt making sincere efforts to end energy crisis: Hamid

SIALKOT: Federal Minister for Science and Technology Zahid Hamid has said the incumbent government is making sincere efforts to end energy crisis and provide all basic amenities of life to the people.

Talking to different delegations which called on him at Pasrur city on Sunday, he said the PML-N government was fulfilling all its promises gradually.

MPA Ch. Munawar Gill, Assistant Commissioner Pasrur Touqeer Ilyas Cheema and PML-N leaders including Khawaja Saeed Butt were also present on the occasion.

Later, talking to the newsmen, Zahid Hamid said that 155 villages of his constituency (NA 114, Pasrur, Sialkot-V) have been provided gas supply.

He disclosed the Punjab government had released a special grant of Rs 155 million for the uplift of Pasrur, under a comprehensive plan for the development and beautification of Pasrur.

The Minister said that Rs 80 million were being spent for tough tiles on various main inter-city roads in Pasrur including the Kutchery to Tehsil Gate Road, Nadra Chowk to Shehzada Phaatak, Chowk Muhallah Khokharaan to Tehsil Gate and Godowns Road.

The construction work on the development schemes has already been started, he said and added that local historical pool would also be converted into a mini stadium for promoting sports, games and other healthy activities in Pasrur.

The Minister revealed that a chunk of Rs 90 million was being spent on shifting fruits and vegetable markets from Pasrur city to its outskirts, and the Pasrur Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) has identified a suitable land along the main Pasrur-Narowal Road for this purpose.
