Senate body dismays over delay in small provinces projects

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Communications on Thursday dismayed over the non completion of small provinces projects in stipulated time and urged the National Highway Authority (NHA) to complete the Quetta airport road.

The committee meeting held under the Chairmanship of Senator Muhammad Daud Khan Achakzai here with members including Senator Zahid Khan, Nisar Muhammad, Kamil Ali Agha and Muhammad Mohsin Khan Leghari.

The committee members raised objection on the NHA working in selected areas as it is national department and have much responsibility to work on equal basis.

Awami National Party Senator Zahid Khan said small provinces internationally funded projects were delayed and cost of projects is increased from actual estimate.

He added this practice gives bad name to the authority and it is the duty of present administration to bring positive change in authority and take strict action against those people who were involved in corruption and delaying the projects.

Chairman Senator Muhammad Daud Khan Achakzai said that NHA should improve its monitoring system to counter corrupt employees and complete its main projects by NHA.

In reply of Senator Nisar Khan, Chairman NHA assured the committee that collector land will come in the committee and would brief about the northern bypass Peshawar.

The committee members said NHA should follow the directions of committee in the interest of country and use public money in the betterment of the country.

The committee was assured that all projects would be completed in given time period and that committee guidelines and recommendations will be followed.
