Governor Sindh calls for comprehensive traffic plan

KARACHI: Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishart ul Ebad Khan, has directed to arrange traffic routes and identify schemes of roads, under passes and fly overs, under a comprehensive master plan, to ensure free flow of traffic in coastal localities of the metropolis.

He was chairing a high level meeting to review steps aimed at ensuring free flow of traffic in Clifton, Defence and other areas adjacent to the coast of Karachi here on Friday.

The governor stressed that future needs of the vehicular traffic in these areas and requirements and concerns of all stakeholder including people travelling towards recreational spots must be kept in mind while envisaging master plan.

Emphasizing close coordination among all municipal authorities and other concerned departments in this regard, the governor said that traffic routes and ancillary facilities are required to be in harmony with proposed high density zone plan.

He also stressed that internal roads of residential areas should be kept free of unnecessary pressure of traffic.

Station commander Brigadier Farukh, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Siddiqui, Principal Secretary Muhammad Hussain Syed, officials of KMC, Defence Housing Authority and Cantonment Board attended the meeting.
