Government spends Rs94.977bn from 2008-2013 on poverty alleviation

ISLAMABAD: A sum of Rs94.977 billion have been spent on alleviation of poverty from the country from the year 2008 to 2013, Minister for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Privatisation Muhammad Ishaq Dar said Wednesday.

In a written reply to the question of Ms Khalida Mansoor in National Assembly, he said Rs59.342 billion had been spent on providing providing micro credit to poor, Rs3.706 billion spent on capacity building, Rs0.282 billion on fighting disability, Rs0.263 billion on providing emergency relief, Rs3.356 billion on livelihood enhancement, Rs9.789 billion on rehabilitation and reconstruction, Rs3.773 billion on social mobilisation, Rs3.836 billion on providing Health and Education, Rs8.074 billion on providing water and infrastructure and Rs2.556 billion had been spent from year 2008 to 2013 on Waseela-e-Haq programme.
