Government pays Rs20.501mn fee to lawyers of high treason case

ISLAMABAD: A sum of Rs20.501 million fee has so far been paid to government lawyers engaged in High Treason case against former President General (R) Pervez Musharraf, Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan told National Assembly on Wednesday.

In a written reply to the question of Shafqat Mehmood of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf, the minister said a sum of Rs10.50 million fee has been paid to 12 member prosecution team and Rs10 million to 11 member constitution team.

Giving details of fee paid to Prosecution team, he said the head of legal team Muhammad Akram Sheikh senior advocate, Supreme Court of Pakistan has been paid only Rs999 as fee. Naseer-ud-Din Khan Nayyer, advocate has been paid Rs5,000,000. Sardar Asmatullah, advocate, Tayyab Jafri, advocate and Ishtiaq Ibrahim advocate have been paid Rs1,000,000 each.

Barrister Natalya Kamal advocate, Barrister Sajeel Sheryar, Mian Moazzam Habib and Ch Hasan Murtaza Mann have been paid Rs500,000 each as fee. Likewise Faraz Raza advocate and Muhammad Haider Imtiaz advocate have been paid 250,000 each.

Giving details of fee paid to 11 member constitution team, he said Tariq Hassan advocate, Ch Muhammad Ikram advocate and Ishtiaq Ibrahim advocate have been paid Rs100,000 each as fee.

Nasir-ud-Din Khan Nayyer advocate, Natalya Kamal advocate, Barrister Sajeel Sheryar advocate, Chaudhry Hasan Murtaza Mann advocate have been paid Rs500,000 each as fee.

Fara Raza, advocate and Muhammad Haider Haider Imtiaz advocate have been paid Rs250,000 each as fee.

And Barrister Sharjeel Adnan Sheikh advocate did not get any fee as member of prosecution team and Barrister Muhammad Raheel Kamran advocate and Naeem Qureshi advocate was not paid any fee as members of constitutional team.
