England lose injured Wright for World T20

22 Mar, 2014

DHAKA: Injury-hit England suffered another blow when all-rounder Luke Wright was ruled out of the World Twenty20 due to a side strain, the International Cricket Council said on Saturday.

Batsman-wicketkeeper Craig Kieswetter will replace Wright for the 2010 champions, who open their campaign later on Saturday against New Zealand in Chittagong.

Kieswetter played the last of his 25 T20 internationals in September 2012, but turned out for Brisbane Heats in Australia's domestic Big Bash T20 competition earlier this year.

England have already lost Joe Root and Ben Stokes due to injury, while skipper Stuart Broad is nursing a troublesome knee.

England are drawn with Sri Lanka, New Zealand, South Africa and the Netherlands in group one of the Super-10 round, with the top two advancing to the semi-finals.
