13.36mn cotton bales reach ginneries

MULTAN: Over 13.36 million bales of cotton have reached ginneries across Pakistan by Mar 15, registering a 4.08 percent increase as compared to the corresponding period last year.

Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to 13,369,627 bales reached ginneries till Mar 15 as compared to 12,845,070 bales' arrival recorded during the corresponding period last year, says a fortnightly report issued by the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) here on Tuesday.

The report says Phutti equivalent to 13.35 million bales have undergone the ginning process. Arrivals in Punjab were recorded at 9.6 million or 9,614,295 bales, exactly 1.78 percent above the arrivals recorded during the corresponding period last year.

Arrivals in Sindh were recorded at 3.75 million or 3,755,332 bales, showing a surge by 10.47 percent, compared to last year. Exporters have bought 369,673 bales while textile mills purchased 12.14 million or 12,148,634 bales.

Exactly 851,320 bales are still with the ginneries as unsold stock till Mar 15, says the report.
