LONDON: European stock markets closed lower on Tuesday as investors locked in profits from a bullish run, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index slipping around 0.52 percent at 6,830.5 points.

Frankfurt's DAX 30 dropped 0.1 percent to 9,699.35 points, while the CAC 40 in Paris shed 0.1 percent to 4,414.55 points.
