Pakistan's Ambassador-designate to Qatar calls on President

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Ambassador-designate to Qatar, Shahzad Ahmad called on President Mamnoon Hussain here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday and discussed matters pertaining to his diplomatic assignment.

Felicitating Shahzad Ahmad on his new responsibilities, the President urged him to focus on further cementing Pakistan's close and cordial relations with Qatar.

The President on the occasion said that the government attaches great importance to the development of trade and economic cooperation as an integral part of its foreign policy objectives.

He emphasized the need on pursuance of economic diplomacy by all diplomats to further promote Pakistan's economic and trade ties.

The President advised the ambassador designate to focus on promoting Pak-Qatar cooperation in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) sector and export of more manpower from Pakistan to Qatar.

The President urged him to play his active role in encouraging Qatar Investment Authority and Qatar's entrepreneurs and business community to avail the incentive packages the present government is offering for investment in various sectors particularly energy, oil and gas and infrastructure.

The President expressed the hope that the newly appointed ambassador would use his rich experience and capabilities and work with all devotion for further strengthening Pakistan's trade and commercial ties with Qatar.

The ambassador designate thanked the President for reposing confidence in him and assured that he would do his best to augment Pakistan's bilateral relations with Qatar with particular focus on enhancing trade, business and investment ties.
