TOKYO: Shares in Japan's Nintendo lost nearly a fifth of their value at one stage Monday after the gaming giant warned it would slip back into the red on poor sales of its Wii U game console.

The stock plunged almost 19 percent in morning deals before recouping most of its losses to close 6.14 percent lower at 13,745 yen.
