09 Jan, 2014

LAHORE: A division bench of the Lahore High Court Thursday referred bail application of Malik Ishaq, leader of a banned outfit, to the LHC Chief Justice with a request to fix it before another bench.

The bench observed that it was tasked to hear matters regarding narcotics but the present matter deals with anti- terrorism, therefore, it should be heard by an appropriate bench.

The bench, comprising Justice Muhammad Anwaar ul Haq and Justice Abdul Sattar Asghar, was hearing the matter.

Malik Ishaq through his bail applications submitted that the police had registered two cases against him for making provocative speeches at Jamia Masjid Qadeer, Dirya Khan, Bhakkar under Anti-terrorism Act.

He pointed out that Anti-Terrorism Court Sargodha had dismissed his bail applications in both cases.

He said the police were complainant in both the cases whereas it had no witness to the incident.

He pleaded the court to grant him bail in both cases after setting aside ATC orders.
