LB elections to bring positive change in FATA: Governor KPK

ISLAMABAD: Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Engineer Shaukatullah has said Local Bodies elections will bring positive changes in FATA like other parts of the country.

Talking to a private TV channel, KPK Governor said holding of Local Bodies elections in FATA was not something of forbidden nature; adding that efforts were being made to bring the area at par with other parts of the country by holding the LG elections there and bringing positive reforms in accordance with wishes of the tribesmen.

He said local government elections will be held in FATA under similar programme which applied in other parts of the country. If needed, some minor changes can be made with the consent of the tribesmen.

To a question, he said that periodical transfer and posting of officials is part of government service. Some officials have already been transferred while others are under consideration.

To another question, he said that it is unfortunate that the rise in attacks against the polio health workers has deprived many children of the vaccination of anti-polio drops.

Although security is provided to the anti-polio teams. He said the government is, however, determined to fulfill its responsibility adding polio drops would be administered to every child in FATA.
