Pakistan Parliamentary delegation visits Maldives to attend 7th SAARC Speaker Conference

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will visit Maldives to attend the 7th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) speaker and parliamentarians Conference, from December 21 to 23.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq is accompanied by a six-member parliamentary delegation comprising MNAs including Tahira Aurangzeb, Mukhdoom Syed Mustafa Mehmood, Sajida Begum, Abdul Rashid Godil, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh and Dr. Muhammad Afzal Dhandla.

During conference, the Speakers and Parliamentarians will focus to achieve SAARC Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by strengthening democracy in the South Asian region through institutional development, said a press release issued here.

Women parliamentarians from SAARC region attending the conference will also hold a meeting to discuss opportunities and challenges for women's political participation and representation in South Asia.

During the stay in Maldives, the Speaker National Assembly will meet Maldivian's political leadership apart from other Speakers and Parliamentarians of the SAARC countries.
