Production in the mining, manufacturing, gas and electricity industries rose 1.8 percent from the previous month, Statistics Korea said.
It was the fastest monthly growth since November 2012 and reversed a 2.3 percent fall in September.
The government agency attributed the rise to robust activity in the manufacturing sector, which saw output rise 2.0 percent from September.
The government has predicted that Asia's fourth-largest economy will grow by 2.7 percent this year and 3.9 percent in 2014.
