SC orders to produce missing person Yasin Shah

ISLAMABAD: A three-member bench of the Supreme Court on Monday ordered defence authorities to produce a missing person, Yasin Shah, before the court by November 26.

The court observed that the missing person should be produced on November 26, otherwise, the secretary defence should appear.

The three-member bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry passed the orders on a petition filed for recovery of Yasin Shah by his wife.

As proceedings started, Defence Ministry's Director Legal Irfan appeared before the court and submitted that Yasin Shah was not in their custody. However, he said, that search was going on and sought time for the purpose.

Justice Jawwad S khawaja observed that it was continuation of course adopted by the previous government regarding missing persons despite it that the Attorney General assured the court to make a policy on it.

The court also addressing the official remarked why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against him for making false statement.

The bench ordered to produce Yasin Shah on November 26 besides adjourning the matter.

Meanwhile, the bench also ordered the police authorities to produce Advocate Zaheer Ahmad Gondal, disappeared from Rawalpindi, by December 2 after police authorities sought time for his recovery.
