Four members committee formed to probe Qisakhwani blast, death toll mounts to 43: Police

PESHAWAR: The Government has formed a four member committee comprising high ranking officers of Police Department to probe the deadly car bomb explosion of Qiskhwani bazaar with different angles.

According to Police Spokesman here on Monday, SSP Investigation Masood Khan Khalil would supervise the investigation process of the blast. The investigation team visited to the site of the explosion and inspected the area.

Police said the death toll of car bomb explosion that ripped through the contested Qisakhwani bazaar on Sunday, has mounted to 43 while 107 sustained critical wounds. The dead also include eight women and six children aged five to nine.

According to Spokesman of Lady Reading Hospital here, 107 people were brought to the hospital for treatment with multiple wounds in different parts of the bodies of the victims and were shifted to different wards for medical treatment.

He said 49 patients with minor injuries were discharged from hospitals while 58 were still being treated.

Meanwhile, grief and sorrow prevailed in Qisakhwani bazaar and people are coming to the residences of victims' families to offer Fateha.

The funeral prayers of the victims have been offered at various places of the City and laid to rest amid moving scenes.

Most of the shops at Qisakhwani bazaar were closed as mark of protest by traders to condemn the blast and demanded of the government to unmask the killers.
