LHC dismisses petition against ban on collecting hides

25 Sep, 2013

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court Wednesday dismissed, as being withdrawn, a petition against ban on Jamat-ut-Dawaa to collect sacrificial hides.

The single bench comprising LHC chief justice was hearing the petition filed by Ameer Jamat-ut-Dawaa Hafiz Muhammad Saeed.

Earlier, petitioner's counsel through a civil miscellaneous application sought permission to withdraw the petition. He submitted that the petitioner through another petition wanted to challenge government's ban which was imposed in the light of United Nations resolution.

He said that no restrictions could be imposed on any organization without declaring it a banned outfit.

The court accepting the request dismissed the petition as being withdrawn.
