SC annuls appointment of DG CAA Khalid Chaudhry

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Wednesday declared null and void the appointment of DG Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Khalid Chaudhry.

The three-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Shaikh Azmat was hearing the case pertaining to delay in construction of new Islamabad Airport.

The court, while announcing the verdict in the case, declared appointment of DG CAA Khalid Chaudhry as null and void. The chief justice said appointment of the DG was against the law.

During the proceedings, Secretary CAA Muhammad Ali Gardezi informed the apex court that the issue of alleged embezzlement in the new Islamabad Airport project has been handed over to FIA for investigation.

He said there was no water, electricity and road at the place, which was allegedly allocated for new the project.
