Indonesia brings fifth WTO challenge to Australia tobacco laws

GENEVA: Indonesia launched a complaint against Australia at the World Trade Organization on Friday, becoming the fifth country to challenge its stringent tobacco packaging laws, the WTO said in a statement.

Since late last year, Australia has forced cigarette manufacturers to package their products in drab green packets with no colourful logos and with brand names printed in a standard small font, in what it says is a health promotion drive.
