Shahbaz Sharif approves master plan of 700 mw solar park project in Cholistan

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif Saturday approved master plan for Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Project in Cholistan.

The approval of the utmost needed project was given during a high level meeting of Punjab Energy Council with Chief Minister Punjab in chair.

It should be mentioned that the Cholistan’s Quaid-e-Azam Solar Energy Park Project will generate 700 Mega Watts of electricity. In the first phase of establishment, Punjab government will install 8 solar projects of 50 MW each.

Shahbaz Sharif announced that the solar projects capable of generating 700 mw will be installed over 10,000 yards field of land provided by Punjab government.

He directed for immediate commencement of development works on the solar project after the approval.

It is pertinent to mention,that Cholistan Desert locally known as Rohi sprawls thirty kilometers from Bahawalpur city of Punjab province which covers an area of 26,300 km while it adjoins the Thar Desert extending over to Sindh and into India.

The move of the provincial government would help eliminate seropis crisis of energy shortage in Pakistan.
