According to police, the ex-counselor named Maqbool, who had also campaigned for the Aug 22, by-elections, was gunned down by unknown assailants in Shahdara area of Lahore.
The body was shifted to hospital for medico-legal requirements from where it was handed over to heirs after postmortem.
The police registering a case against unknown murders started the investigations.
