ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that work has already started on a plan to generate 900MW electricity to overcome energy crisis in the province.

Talking to a private news channel, he said we intend to generate 2000MW electricity through competitive bids to be published in the newspapers advertisements very soon.

Investors including Overseas Pakistanis can invest in the scheme of generating electricity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he added.

He said restoration of peace in tribal areas was the responsibility of the federal government; adding that a broad-based national policy should be framed in consultations with all political parties in the country.

He said Prime Minister should convene an all party conference and create a consensus over finalization of a national security policy.

Provincial government on its part, he said, was using all its resources to mobilize its intelligence agencies, strengthen the police and the paramilitary forces for checking possible militant infiltrations from tribal areas and ensure peace and security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
