Japan consumer prices up 0.4pc on-year in June: govt

TOKYO: Japan's consumer prices rose 0.4 percent on-year in June, official data showed Friday, recording the first increase in more than a year that indicate government efforts to pull the country out of years of deflation were paying off.

The reading, which excludes volatile prices of fresh food, beat market expectations of a 0.3 percent rise.
