ISLAMABAD: Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif Saturday telephoned opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah to discuss the possibility of bringing a joint candidate for the forthcoming presidential election.

Khursheed Shah, who is in Karachi for medical reasons, told Khawaja Asif that he will get back to him after consulting the party leadership over the matter.

Khawaja Asif told the opposition leader that the PML-N has short listed the names of three candidates for the presidential election and will like to see the PPP’s support for anyone of them who is finally named as the presidential candidate.

It merits mentioning here that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has formed a five-member committee to contact and deliberate with different political parties regarding the presidential election. Khawaja Asif is also a member of that committee.
