Sheikh Rasheed urges parties to respect each other's mandate

ISLAMABAD: President Awami Muslim League, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Monday urged all political parties to respect each other's mandate and avoid making general elections controversial.

He said there have been complaints about irregularities in elections and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is taking care of them as re-polling or recounting has been ordered in several cases.

President Awami Muslim league, said as result of elections, democratic institutions would be strengthened.

Talking to private television channel, he said for the first time a smooth democratic transition was taking place in the country.

Replying to question, he said that the opposition should be positive on issues of national interest and make positive criticism on government.

Replying to another question, he said that coming government would face the challenges of loadshedding, which should be tackle with wisdom and pragmatic strategy.

He said that democracy is only solution of all problems country facing today.
