30 Nov, -0001

KARACHI: The State Bank Saturday advised all the banks to open their offices and branches dealing with the credit information on Sunday from 8 am to 12 (midnight) to address issues regarding credit information of the contesting candidates.

A statement here said that this will help the banks to issue clearance certificates to those borrowers who have cleared their overdue liabilities, update eCIB system of State Bank and address any other issues.

It said that the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) had earlier informed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) that the credit information position being provided by SBP was as of February 28, 2013.

The SBP had suggested that ECP may consider clearance certificates from the concerned banks in case of those borrowers who have settled their loans after February 28, 2013 to determine the eligibility of the candidates.

The SBP has processed all the cases it has received from ECP, it was further stated.
