PM briefed on foreign policy; discusses political situation with Chairman Senate

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso was given a comprehensive briefing on the issues and challenges faced by Pakistan in the realm of foreign affairs at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat on Monday.

Secretary Foreign Affairs Mr. Jalil Abbas Jilani along with senior officials of his ministry apprised the Prime Minister on the initiatives and efforts taken by Pakistan to further its national objectives.

The Prime Minister was briefed about Pakistan’s policy on key issues, nature and status of Pakistan’s relations with United States, India, European Union, other Muslim countries and regional organizations.

The Prime Minister was also given a detailed update on Pakistan’s contribution towards world peace.

Chairman Senate Syed Nayyer Hussain Bukhari also called on the Prime on Monday morning.

Syed Nayyer Hussain Bukhari briefed the Prime Minister on issues pertaining to the Upper House and apprised him on matters and business conducted in Senate at present.

Overall political situation in the country with special reference to the forth coming general elections also came under discussion.

The Prime Minister reiterated his resolve to hold free, fair and transparent elections, which would strengthen the democratic dispensation in the country.

The Chairman Senate congratulated the Prime Minister on assumption of the office of Prime Minister.
