PPP always gains power through support of masses: Gilani

ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Sunday said the people in four provinces were supportive of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) because of its commitment to serve the poor.

Talking to APP, he said no one could take any decision on the National Finance Commission Award and it was the credit of the PPP and its allies, which announced the NFC Award to ensure rights of all provinces.

He said PPP government provided basic needs of life to the people across the board without any discrimination.

To a question, he said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was sentenced to death just because he gave self-respect to the masses,identity, right of vote and courage to the deprived segments of society.

He said the restoration of 1973 Constitution in its original form, which was disfigured by the dictators, was the biggest ever achievement of the PPP.

To another question, he said the PPP considered the people as a source of strength in the democratic system.
