President inaugurates development projects in Sindh

The two road projects inaugurated are Hyderabad - Mirpurkhas Dual Carriageway and Jhirk Mulla Katiar Bridge while the new projects announced included one kilometer long bridge directly connecting the districts of Thatta and Tando Mohammad Khan and 100 MW power project at Nooriabad, in Sindh.

 

The inauguration ceremony was attended among others by Governor Sindh Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan, Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, some federal and provincial ministers, members of Parliament, members of Sindh Assembly, civil society organizations and high ranking government officials.

 

Addressing the function President Zardari said that the completion of Hyderabad - Mirpurkhas Dual Carriageway and the bridge over Indus at Hirk Mulla Katiar would provide the vital link between rural Sindh and the urban market centres and enhance trade and commerce.

 

The President expressed the hope that the completion of the 100 MW Nooriabad power project would not only augment the energy resources but also lend new impetus to the public-private partnership projects in the province.

 

He said that these economic development projects would usher in a new era of progress and prosperity in Sindh by promoting industrialization, creating fresh avenues of developmental opportunities and attract local and foreign investors.

 

The dual carriageway has been completed with the cooperation of South Korea whose firm Deokjae performed the work.

 

All the three projects belong to the Sindh Government and have been pursued under public-private partnership.

 

President Asif Ali Zardari also performed the balloting of tractors.

 

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah speaking on this occasion said these are very innovative projects.

 

Highlighting the importance and utility of Jherruk-Mulla Katiar Link Bridge, he said, the bridge will have very significant and positive impact on the social and economic life of the people of Badin, Thatta and Karachi.
