Talking to media on the occasion, he said that Get technologies and Pakistan energy conservation society had proved that energy crisis could be overcome with the support of people and private sector.

 

He lauded the efforts of Get technologies and Pakistan Energy conservation society who after instantiating different pilot projects had saved 23 MW electricity in a short period.

 

The government would provide all possible support to the organisations making efforts to conserve electricity, he said and added that saving single megawatt is more important than producing a single MW.

 

Responding to a question, he said that a number of power generation projects are in progress and after their completion the situation of energy would improve. He said that PML-N was making false claims of overcoming energy crisis within two years.

 

The Punjab government should inform the people about the running electricity projects in the province, he said and added the federal government had asked the provincial government to close markets at 6:00 pm in line with energy conservation but they did not pay heed.

 

Kaira said that electricity tariff increased but it was not increased 100 percent adding that the government had given subsidy of Rs 1500 billion during five years.

 

He further said the Punjab government had wasted an hefty amount on ill-planned schemes like Sasti Roti and etc.

 

Chairman Get Technology Iqbal Akhtar Hussain, Managing Director Ejaz Ahmad and CEO Bakar Bilal Hussain gave presentation to the Federal Minister to highlight 'Go Green project'.

 

PPP leader Ch Manzoor was also present on the occasion.
