Addressing the Peoples Lawyers Forum at a local hotel on Tuesday, he said progress in south Punjab was only possible  when people had their own chief minister, assembly, governor, high court and other offices.

He added that south Punjab could not compete with other developed areas of the country till establishment of separate province.

Gilani added that the PPP would take part in the elections on the basis of record development projects during its tenure.

He said the incumbent government of the Pakistan Poeples Party had added 3,400 megawatt in the national grid to overcome electricity crisis. He observed that there was no restriction on production of electricity by the provincial government.

He said Nawaz Sharif and Perveze Musharraf were responsible for electricity shortage as Nawaz Sharif threatened investors of IPPs and Musharraf did not pay heed to the issue.

"It is matter of honour for the incumbent government because there is not a single political prisoner throughout the term," he said.

He said it was a credit of the PPP which had restored the Constitution to its original form. He added that those who had two\third majority could not restore the Constitution to its original form.

Gilani paid rich tribute to Shaheed Muhtarma Benazir Bhutto for sacrificing her life for the people.

He said the PPP was a symbol of strong federation.

He stated the Pakistan Peoples Party had always honoured courts.

District president Peoples Lawyers Forum Bushra Naqvi, PM's media-coordinator Khawaja Rizwan Aalam, Shiekh Ghiasul Haq, district president PPP Khalid Hanif Lodhi and others were present.
